Christmas Around the World Presents for Our Class Tree
Students had to pick a country and create a present to put under our class tree that displays how that country celebrates Christmas.
What was some things you learned about how other cultures celebrate Christmas? How is this different from your culture? Explain.

cool i think that is is a good idea because it gives u a chance to learn about new things and get to know the world better. It would let kids know that u and your family is not the only people that is on the earth.I also like the boat i think it is so uniqe and you can pretend that you are on the boat with the other kids from around the world.

The culture of Kwanzaa is with many Afrcan Americans who are celebrating Kwanzaa to hono their culture roots in Africa. Kwanzaa is like Hanakkah because Kwanzaa has 7 days and nights and Hanakkah has 8 days and nights. That is what I learned.

What I learned about South America is that they do most of the same things we do. They decorate like you decorate. We put up tree's but they don't. In the text it states that South America is a very large place and liks to decorate on Christmas. Is also states that they have different types of food they eat. In my own opinion I think/agree that they celebrate their Christmas a little different. That is the things in South America compared to America.

I learned many things from researching about Italy. I learned that in Italy they shot fire cannons from Castel St. to announce the beginning of a holiday and that they have a feast there. Celebrating in Italy is different from how I celebrate Christmas is because I do not have a feast with lots of food. I only have a family dinner. They don't even use a Christmas tree or get gifts. Thats what I learned about Christmas in Italy.

What I learned about is how China celebrates Christmas. They celebrate Christmas by lighting their houses with wall paper and latterns. They have trees like USA do. The Chinese call the trees, "Tree of light." In the text it states that children hang muslin stockings for Santa Claus.
ReplyDeleteIn USA we decorate our houses with lights and inflates of Santa Claus. On Christmas we set out lookies for Santa to eat. Then we see presents. In the text it states that on Christmas Eve we have a big countdown for the New Year.
In my opinion I think that USA has a lot in common. I think that China copied the tree from the USA. This is how China and I celebrate Christmas.

I learned that Norway celebrated Christmas by decorating houses with lights and lighting their Christmas tree with lights. My Christmas I celebrate is similar to theirs because we decorate our Christmas tree with lights and we celebrate Christmas too.

I learned that not all people celebrate Christmas like me. Even though Christmas is a holiday, there are also other holidays like Haunnak and Kwanza. Haunnak and Kwanza are different from how I celebrate on Christmas is because a lot of people come over and give gifts to eachother to let my family know that we love them and they will always be in our heart.

China celebrates Christmas different then my family because we do different stuff than they do. China celebrates Christmas by lighting their houses with latterns and put up Christmas trees. We do that but we sing Christmas songs and listen to songs. We open presents.

I learned about how other people in Denmark celebrate Christmas in a different way. In the text it states that instead of Christmas dinner they eat on Christmas Eve. We call him Santa Claus and they call him Julemanden and the elves. They call them Jaul Nisse and they think they live in attics.
ReplyDeleteIn my own opinion there are so many cultures and so many different ways for Christmas. All cultures have different ways.

What I learned throughout the reseach that Nicaraugan's have three wise men bring gifts at a feast on January 6th. Often the holiday season concludes with a brilliant display of fireworks. Nicarauga is different from America when celebrating Christmas because America gets gifts on December 25th, instead of the 6th.

ReplyDeleteWhen researching many cultures I learned about China how they celebrated Christmas. Many people celebrate Christmas by crafting papers. They call then "Trees of lights." They also have festivals towards the end of January. They call St. Nicholas "Christmas old man."
ReplyDeleteIn America many people put up trees to celebrate Christmas. We put up decoration on the tree with a star at the top of the tree. We also have a holiday called New Year's on January 1st of the New Year. Many people in America called St. Nicholas "Santa Claus." This is what we have in common with China.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinioin I like doing this because its good to learn about. I also think that my mom will be happy that I am learning about this. I am sure that I will remember this forever.
It is more different how we celebrate Christmas. We put up decorations and also eat with our families and open presents. Other people do parties. We are more different then others.

ReplyDeleteIn the text it states that India decorate their houses with bannas and mano tress. Isn't that Crazy?
