Welcome to our blog! While studying various countries, students completed projects and writings about their research. Students gained an appreciation for other cultures while looking inside themselves and their culture.
The students had to do a research project on a different culture aside from their own. After researching the differences, the students had to create a project and present it to the class. After all presentations, the students celebrated by bring in a dish that represents their family’s culture. Here are some pictures.
In China and France there are many thins that are alike. They both celebrate Christmas and they both have a Santa Clause. They both decorate their tree with arts and crafts. In the text it states this.
ReplyDeleteChina and France also celebrate Christmas differently. People in China wait for Santa Clause to come and the people in France get gifts from Pere Noel. In the text it states that people from France make a yule log-shaped cake. In China they call Santa Clause Dun-che Lao Ren. They have different names for Santa Clause.
In my opinion I like how they celebrate Christmas because they have really good Christmases. I like how they decorate the Christmas tree in China. I would like to decorate my tree like China. They also have great parties. It is amazing what they do.

French people celebrate Christmas my making food and having a feast and Chinese people do the same. They both receive gifts and also decorate their places. In the text it stated that Chinese people decorate their house with paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns. They are not alike because French people make their trees my making a cake out of a log and Chinese people make their trees of light with all kinds of paper on it. Chinese people call Santa Clause Dun Che Lao Ren and French people call Santa Clause Pere Noel.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I think people from France and Chinese people are crazy over Christmas and I think what they call Santa is crazy. This is What I think about their Christmas.

China and France are alike on Christmas because they both decorate. China and France decorate their houses and they put decorations on their Christmas trees. Both of the places believe in Santa Clause. China calls Santa Claus Dun Che Lao Ren which means "Christmas Old Man."
ReplyDeleteIn my own opinion China ans France are like the same thing on Christmas. This is how France and China are alike.
France and China are different too on Christmas because France does by hand decorations and China buys their decorations. In China they have a Christmas tree but in France they have a log. Its called the Yule log which is a cake. No Christmas tree but just a cake.
In my own opinion the people of China and France can't be the same. Everyone has something different for the holidays. They can't be the same.

China and France are alike because they celebrate Christmas. France puts up beautiful lights and they have Christmas trees. They are different because China's Christmas trees are called "Tress of lights" France on Christmas displays nativity scenes or creche. The creche is often people made out of clay.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I will stay with my family. I will stay with my family because I am going to get a lot of stuff for Christmas. I remember when someone asked me If I would live in China. I said no because I will like to stay with my mom. I will not go to China or France without my mother. I do not know who to speak too or their language.
In my opinion I will go to China if my mom can go because they do the same thing we do. If I go I will like to get the DSI. I will celebrate Christmas in China by lighting their house and I can make beautiful paper lanterns.

Christmas in China and France are alike because they celebrate Christmas and they play a disc. For Christmas they wait for a visit from Santa Claus.
ReplyDeleteChristmas in China and France are different because China makes paper flowers and Christmas trees, which they call "tree of lights" Also France makes Christmas log cake. Among other food, great abundance is served. France makes clay figures for their nativity scene.
I will celebrate in China because I can make a paper flowers and Christmas trees.

I think they celebrate Christmas alike because China and France both have a Santa Clause. They both decorate their Christmas tree with arts and crafts. Also they both have a big feast on Christmas. They both call Santa Clause a different name. Lastly, they both have someone who brings them gifts. In the text the author states that they decorate their trees with hand made arts and crafts. That is why I think they celebrate Christmas the same.
ReplyDeleteI think they celebrate Christmas different because the Chinese call their Santa Dun Che Lao Ren, but in France they call their Santa Pere Noel who has an assistant named Pre Fouettard. Pre Fouettard reminds Noel who's been naughty or nice. Also Chinese celebrate their ancestors but France doesn't. Other wise, Chinese hang photos of ancestors in the main room. Whereas, France makes paper doves and ornaments to decorate.
In my own opinion, even though I do not celebrate any holiday, if I had the choice to celebrate Christmas I would celebrate it in China. They both celebrate the holiday very interesting but China caught my attention. I remember one time in third grade when we had to chose where to go for a field trip and it had to be interesting. This reminds me of this question because I chose a place that caught my eye just like China. China's Christmas is very interesting to me and that is why I would love to celebrate Christmas there.

China and France are the same because they both celebrate Christmas and they both also decorate their houses. They both do arts and crafts. Also, they are the same because they both receive gifts and buy gifts for each other. They both have fun.
ReplyDeleteChina and France are different because they both celebrate Christmas in different months. In China they receive new clothing and in France they receive gifts like toys. Also China and France are different because in France for Christmas they eat turkey with chestnuts. In China for Christmas they eat luxurious meals.
My opinion, I would rather want to stay celebrating Christmas like I always do because to me, by reading this I feel they do not get a lot of things there. We get a lot of toys in the USA and the food to me is not enough of food for your family and friends. China and France do not celebrate the way we celebrate and they do not have enough fun to me just by reading about how they celebrate Christmas. Do you ever want to celebrate Christmas differently?

China and France are the same because they both have a Santa Claus. They both have get together. They both have unique Christmas trees. They both have Santa Claus but they have different names for Santa Claus.
ReplyDeleteChina calls Santa Dun Che Lao Ren and France calls Santa Santons. China has a spring festival and France has dinners. China calls their tree Tree of light and France calls their tree Christmas log. China makes their trees out of paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns and France makes their trees out of pie.
In my opinion I would rather celebrate Christmas in China because I think they way that Christmas is being celebrated in China is very interesting. I think making your own Christmas tree out of paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns is fun and cool. I also like the celebrations that they have in China. I think France is cool too but I don't really like how the things they do to celebrate Christmas.

Christmas in China ans France are alike because they both celebrate Christmas. They both have a feast at midnight. Also they both are alike because they both wait for people to deliver them gifts. These are the reasons how China and France are alike during Christmas.
ReplyDeleteChristmas in China and France are different because in China for Christmas people celebrate by lighting their houses with beautiful paper lanterns. Their Christmas tree which they call "Trees of Lights" are decorated with chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns. Chinese children hang muslin stockings and wait for a visit from Santa Clause whom they call Dun Che Loa Ren (dwy-chuh-lay-oh-run) which means "Christmas Old Man." Then France is different because they celebrate by displaying a scene of creche. They make little clay figures called Santos or little saints.
My opinion is that in China they should do more than what they do to celebrate. So if I had the choice to go to France or China I would not go. I would not go because we do more out here in the USA. The things we do is have parties, cook a lot, and spend time with our families. These are the reasons why France and China are alike and different. Would you like to celebrate Christmas in China or France?

China and France are alike because they both celebrate Christmas. They also have Christmas trees. They live in homes. The text stated that they do believe in Santa Claus.
ReplyDeleteChina and France are different because France do not put up Christmas lights. The text stated that France do not put on lights. France also do not like Christmas lights. China and France are different.
My opinion is that France do not put up Christmas lights but I would like to go there. It seems like a good place to visit on Christmas.

China and France are similar because China and France celebrate Christmas and some people don't celebrate Christmas. China celebrates by lighting their houses with beautiful paper lanterns and decorating their Christmas trees which they call "Tree of Light," with paper chains. France celebrates Christmas by displaying a nativity scene or creche which serves as the focus for the Christmas celebration. The creche is often people with little clay figures called santons or little saints.

In the text it states that both China and France make arts and crafts which to show how they feel about Christmas. The children of France and China wait for Santa Claus to come.
ReplyDeleteFrance and China are different because in France they call Santa Claus "Pere Noel and in China they call him "Dun Che Lao Ren" which means "Christmad Old Man." In the text it states that France's Pere Noel brings small presents on December 6th. In China the text states that Chinese people celebrate "Spring Festival" and they also worship their ancestors on New Years!
In my opinion I think that I wouldn't want to live in France or China. The reason why I wouldn't want to go to neither country is because they celebrate different things from what I do. Plus I don't know any of their customs. I wouldn't know what to give the people for their holidays and I just wouldn't want to live in neither country. This is what France have in common with China and that they do not have in common and also how I feel about living in these two countries.

China and France are alike because they both celebrate Christmas by decorating things. For instance, China decorates trees with paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns. In France they make people out of clay called little saints. This is how they are similar.
ReplyDeleteChina and France are different because in France they call Santa, Pere Noel. In China, Santa is known as Den Che Lao Ren. In China instead of going to a fair they have a festival. Also in China they put portraits up of their old ancestors. They also are different because in China kids get presents on New Years and in France they get their presents on Christmas. That's how they are different.
I would rather celebrate my way of celebrating because mine is more fun and I'm used to it a lot. It's not that I don't like their way of Christmas it's just I feel that having Christmas the way I been having it for 10 years is better because its easier so when I live by myself I'd have Christmas my way.

France and China are alike by they both have a feast after Christmas, give gifts after they make them, and decorate their surroundings with lots of things. In the text it states how China and France celebrate Christmas but what they didn't know was that they celebrate Christmas in some similar ways.

In China they have Christmas trees and in France they have Christmas logs, eat certain foods, and France they make clay figures and China they light their houses up with lots of lights. In the text it states the differences of China and France.

China and France are the same by they both celebrate Christmas by doing something special. In the texts it states that China for Christmas they decorate their homes with lights, beautiful paper lanterns, and decorate their Christmas trees which the call "Tree of Lights" with paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns. In the text it states that France celebrates Christmas by having nearly every French home at Christmas time displaying a nativity scene of creche, which serves as the focus for the Christmas celebration. The creche is often people with little clay figures called Santons of "little saints."
ReplyDeleteChina is different from France because of their wonderful decorations. In the text, it states that China decorate their Christmas tree with lights paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns. They also light their house up. In France people have a log cake. They are different also because China have a Old Man that gives them presents. France's Santa Claus name is Pere Noel who travels with his stern disciplinarian companion Per Fouettard. Per Fouettard reminds pere Noel of just how each child has behaved during the past years.
I think I would want to live in both because they celebrate just like I do. We do all the things they do, like decorating their trees, and lighting their houses up with lights.

China and France are alike because they both create things for Christmas. They are also the same because they get gifts. China and France are also alike because they eat before opening gifts. The difference is they call Santa Claus different names. China calls him Dun Che Lao Ren and France calls him Pere Noel. They are also different because the way they celebrate. China doesn't celebrate like France. China for Christmas they decorate the tree with lights and France doesn't have a tree, they have a Christmas log. For Christmas, France cooks so all the people who comes over can have something to eat. Also, they eat the food at midnight. In the text it stated in China they design their house like a party was happening.
ReplyDeleteI think the way France celebrate Christmas is crazy because what if the child gets hungry, they have to wait for midnight to come. I also think the way China celebrates Christmas is cool because you get to design your house any way you want to. That is why I think China and France are alike and different.
BY: Sydney J
China and France Christmas's are alike because they both that a feast. China and France both decorate their houses. They both receive gifts during the feast. In the text it states that they both have decorations from ancestors.
ReplyDeleteChina and France are different because China class Santa Claus "Old Man" and France calls Santa, "Pere Noel." In France they have a log for a tree and have log cake. In China they have a tree.
In my opinion I think France and China have a lot of things in common. In my opinion I think USA, China and France have something in common. We all celebrate Christmas and some of us still believe in Santa Claus. I think that USA has common things with China which is we both have trees, we have big crowds in our Time Square, and we decorate our homes. That's how I compare and contrast China and France.

China and France are alike because in the text it states that they both have a feast, decorate, and celebrate Christmas. In the text it states that France has a log cake as a tree and China has a regular Christmas tree. In the text it also states that in China they watch the fireworks. In France they display a nativity scene or creche which serves a focus for Christmas decorations.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I agree that China and France celebrate Christmas a little but alike and a little bit different. They both have nice Christmas presents and enjoy themselves. That's why I think their Christmas is alike and different.
BY: Shauna L
China and France are different because they have different cultures and they call their Santa Claus two different names. They are alike because they both have a feast and they both decorate the tree. In my own opinion I think that France is more better because they don't have to decorate the tree. They have to bake a cake call the "Christmas Log" and I think that is very very unique.
