Welcome to our blog! While studying various countries, students completed projects and writings about their research. Students gained an appreciation for other cultures while looking inside themselves and their culture.
The students had to do a research project on a different culture aside from their own. After researching the differences, the students had to create a project and present it to the class. After all presentations, the students celebrated by bring in a dish that represents their family’s culture. Here are some pictures.
I would not want to celebrate Christmas in a different country because most of the countries do not get a lot of toys and clothes, but sometimes they do. Also, they just eat a family dinner and go to sleep. Some countries do not have money to buy gifts and clothes or food for Christmas. These are the reasons why I don't want to celebrate Christmas in a different country.

India, I understand why you would not want to celebrate Christmas anywhere else. In the United States we have many things to be thankful for and have so many great holiday traditions. Sitting down to a family dinner is one of my favorite things to do for Christmas so I think that it would be interesting to celebrate with a dinner party in another country.

I would like to go to India for Christmas because they decorate mango or banana trees. They also use small clay oil-burning lamps as a Christmas decoration. Sometimes they also decorate their houses with mango leaves. Those are the reasons why I would want to go to India for Christmas.

Al-Janae, Christmas in India sounds really interesting. I love the idea of decorating mango or banana trees. I think that would be really neat to see. I do love our Christmas tree at my house but I am always looking to learn new things and see new things.

If I had to choose a place to celebrate Christmas, I would want to go to China. They have very interesting ways to celebrate holidays. For one, they make their decorations hand made arts and crafts, Also, they hang pictures of ancestors in their main rooms. In the text the author states that to decorate their trees, they use hand made doves and ornaments. Also, the best reason why I would love to celebrate the holiday in China is because of their beautiful feasts and how they come together as a family.
ReplyDeleteIn my own opinion, I think their holiday traditions are fun because you get to come together as a family and spend time with each other. Also, it will be fun to learn and experience the way another culture celebrates their holidays. I remember one time my teacher had a party and the theme was cultral day. Everyone brought a dish that represents your culture and it was very interesting to taste foods from different cultures. Lastly, we all made a project representing their cultures and it was interesting to learn about all the places. This is why I would like to celebrate Christmas in China.

Crystal, I think I would enjoy Christmas in China as well. I would like to see all the doves and ornanments that they make on the trees. I think that it is also really nice that they hang pictures of their ancestors. It is always nice to have family around you during this time of the year especially if they are no longer around.

China would be a better choice because of the scenery, lights, and style. The people there seem really wonderful. This is why I pick China to where I would want to celebrate Christmas.

If I had a chance to live in a different country, I would not go. Do you know why? The reason why is because I was not born in Bethlehem, Brazil, Canada, ect. The reason why I am saying this is because I was not born in all the other countries so why should I celebrate there. If I was not born there and it is not my culture I should celebrate where I was born and my culture. Then I would not want to go because I think it was just natural for my to celebrate in my town. I am saying this because I should not be excused to a different culture if I do not know their culture, what they do or how they do it. Don't you agree?
ReplyDeleteMy opinion is that they should all do the same things as America does because instead of going to different countries to do what they do they can just do it where their town is because they do the same things so there is no need to travel to another state to celebrate what they do. They can just stay where they are and celebrate how they usually do. This is how I think things should be. Don't you agree with my opinion? This is why I would not want to celebrate in a different country.
